The Coffee Guide
provides detailed information to support those working in the coffee industry
(such as exporters, importers, and coffee authorities) as well as those
involved in working with the coffee industry (like commercial banks, customs
authorities and shipping companies).
This online version is based on the book, “Coffee – An Exporter’s Guide”
– often referred to as the Exporter’s Coffee Guide or just the Coffee
Guide. It was first published in 1992 and again in 2002 in an updated version.
A
third edition of the Coffee Guide book is to be published in early 2012 and will
be available to download and purchase in print from this website via
ITC’s e-shop.
In
the 14 chapters of this online version of the Coffee Guide you will find over
500 so-called text boxes of information on trade practices relating to exporting
coffee. The information covers international coffee contracts (Europe and United
States), logistics, insurance, dispute resolution, futures markets, risk
management and hedging, trade financing and collateral management issues and
also statistics and comments. The guide also covers coffee quality with a
special emphasis on quality control issues as well as outlining new trends in
the coffee trade such as electronic commerce, niche markets, organic and fair
trade labeling, codes of conduct and environmental issues.
The Questions & Answers service on this
website has posted over 240 detailed answers to questions from its users –
primarily from coffee producing countries. The interactive Q&A service is
temporarily not offered.
The entire website is available in English,
French, and
Spanish.
