    Summary data 

    • Population: 33.71 million.  
    • Gross imports in 2009: 3.92 million bags (GBE); Re-exports estimated at 623,000 bags.  
    • Consumption per capita in 2009 estimated at 5.9 kg versus 4.0 kg in 2003, which suggests that consumption is growing strongly although may now be showing signs of stabilising.  
    • More than 41% of gross imports in all forms are from the United States.  
    • The largest green bean suppliers in 2009 were Colombia 29%; Brazil 22%, Guatemala 14% and Peru 5%.  
    • Kraft Foods and Nestlé are the largest roasters but domestic roasters are gaining market share. Soluble coffee covers 12% of consumption.
